چکیده
We are pleased to announce that the Ambulatory Pediatric Association journal will move to a 6 times a year publication, Ambulatory Pediatrics, as of January 2001. Ambulatory Pediatrics will provide a forum for interesting and cutting-edge work in academic general pediatrics. Ambulatory Pediatrics will focus on the education of pediatricians, child health services research, emergency medicine, research methodology, complementary and alternative medicine, child health policy, and adolescent medicine. Ambulatory Pediatrics builds on the success of the Journal of the Ambulatory Pediatric Association, published in 1999 and 2000 as a quarterly supplement to Pediatrics. When the Ambulatory Pediatric Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics joined together in 1998 to launch the new Journal of the Ambulatory Pediatric Association, the Academy provided essential support for the initiation of the Association’s journal. The Academy and the Association will continue their close affiliation while the APA works to establish the wholly independent journal. The Ambulatory Pediatric Association has selected Allen Press as its journal publisher after an extensive process involving several other candidate publishers. Allen Press has a distinguished history of publishing journals for many academic societies. Allen Press has in recent years published the APA abstracts for the annual meetings. They have entered into a strongly collaborative arrangement with the APA for the publication of the new journal, and we look forward to working with them. In our 2 years with the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Journal of the Ambulatory Pediatric Association has published many exciting papers, including work on children’s utilization of health services, unusual causes of lead poisoning, new methods for the education of medical students and pediatric residents, ways to measure and improve childhood immunizations, asthma care, child maltreatment, preventive services, adolescent medicine, and measurement of child and adolescent health status. The new Ambulatory Pediatrics will continue and expand these efforts for the benefit of academic researchers and educators in general pediatrics, as well as for community practitioners involved in research and education in general pediatrics. Ambulatory Pediatrics will continue to be a benefit of membership in the Ambulatory Pediatric Association. Please see the APA membership application in this issue. Nonmembers may subscribe to Ambulatory Pediatrics at the following address:
